Buxton 2010
I have decided to take a year off from my usual Buxton antics for 2010 in order to focus on other projects.
Please have a look at my calendar for other concerts, workshops and concertos.

James Rippingale at Buxton Fringe Festival 2009
I will be playing a series of concerts this year in and around Buxton as part of the Buxton Fringe Festival and Buxton Festival. This is my third year at the fest and it is always a highlight of my summer. Buxton has become a very special place for me and there is a real buzz around festival time with lots of wonderfull music and theatre as well as the Oprea Festival. There are also many great cafes and restaurants to hang out in before and after performances!
I'm Playing 4 solo recitals and one Concerto:
16th July 10:35 Scriveners Book Shop
£5/3 Conc.
In my many visits to Buxton this charming book shop has always caught my eye. When I found out that it was a fringe venue I couldn't resist the thought of putting together a small intimate recital in their cafe area so that I can have a very direct communication with my audience. Besides I am an avid reader and love books so this place is a natural habitat for me. Coffee is served from 10:35 and the Guitar Recital starts at 11:00. This concert is limited to only 15 people and I'm happy to say that tickets are already selling fast! You can reserve your place by calling me 07934 386701.
16th July, 7:30pm Christ Church King Sterndale
£6/4 Conc.
This is a new outreach venue and should prove to be a perfect guitar venue. This is a full program of works by Tarrega, Lou Harrison, Dowland and I am even throwing in some of my own compositions for good measure.
17th July Buxton Octagon - Rodrigo Guitar Concerto
I will be performing the Rodrigo Guitar Concerto with the Derbyshire County Youth Orchestra under the batton of Peter Stark. This is truly one of the great guitar pieces of all time and I feel very lucky to be working with these talented young musicians.
18th July 1:00 pm St Peters Church Buxton
£6/4Conc.
I have planned a full recital program to perform in this beutiful venue! I played here last year and the acoustics are absolutly wonderfull and perfectly suited to the guitar. You can watch a video of me playing at St Peters if you follow the following link.
It will include works by Dowland, Tarrega, Sor and more as well as some of my own compositions.
20th July 1:00pm Buxton Methodist Church
£6/4conc.
Same program as above but in another of Buxton's most fabulous venues. This is my third year playing at the Methoidist Church and I alway enjoy the acoustics and great atmosphere.
I should prove to be a great festival and I am really looking forward to playing. To hear samples of my playing and to see a video please visit my myspace site at
